About us
The IMC Foundation is a non-profit scientific research foundation that primarily operates in Sardinia and, more broadly, in the Mediterranean basin. Its mission is to implement initiatives that contribute to sustainable development in marine and coastal environments, promote cooperation with disadvantaged regions (particularly those in the Mediterranean), support technological development, and foster the dissemination of innovation.
This goal is pursued through activities in the following sectors:
• RESEARCH: The Foundation conducts scientific research of significant social interest, focusing particularly on marine and coastal ecosystems and their variability, aquatic species and their interactions with the environment, and applications for local socio-economic development. This includes, but is not limited to, sustainable aquaculture-based agri-food production, energy efficiency, and the reduction of environmental impacts from production cycles. In general, the IMC Foundation promotes initiatives to enhance knowledge for sustainable development in the Mediterranean.
• TRAINING: The Foundation is committed to scientific and technological training and professional development, ensuring equal opportunities for all. It particularly aims to enhance professional skills that can contribute to local growth and development through the organization of advanced schools, internships, and study programs both at the Foundation and in collaboration with research centers, universities, and businesses in Italy and abroad.
• TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER: The Foundation plays a key role in the social and economic development of Sardinia by transferring knowledge and technologies to the region. It provides technical-scientific assistance to improve business competitiveness, support new initiatives, ensure the continuity of existing projects, and generally enhance both the quantity and quality of employment.
• DISSEMINATION: The Foundation fosters a culture of research, environmental protection, and innovation by organizing conferences, seminars, and meetings.
